West Ham United have actively tried to offload Andy Carroll this month and three Chinese clubs held negotiations with the player, The Sun reports.

What's the word?

West Ham have struggled with their period of change this season, following the move from Upton Park to the London Stadium, but the club are keen to make a shock move happen if possible- with Andy Carroll being pushed out the door.

The Sun states the West Ham board agree to offload Andy Carroll last month and the Hammers have been actively pursuing potential avenues for a sale, with the Chinese Super League being a likely destination for the man who's on a whopping £130k-a-week.

With the Chinese transfer window now into it's last day, West Ham face a struggle to get the former Liverpool and Newcastle United man out of the door and it may have come too late, with negotiations about a departure hitting a brick wall.

Who's in for Carroll?

Chinese trio Tianjin Quanjian, Hebei China Fortune and Shandong Luneng Taishan were all given permission to discuss terms with Carroll, who has made just 12 Premier League appearances this term, but a deal for the 28-year-old appears to be dead.

Whilst the window remains open for another day, West Ham believe the chances of Carroll leaving are extremely slim and they'll have to keep hold of the flop- who has failed to complete a single season during his four years in East London.

Clubs could still make their move ahead of the deadline tomorrow, despite the fact a whopping 420 signings have already been made.
