Football FanCast columnist Jerome Johnstone is unsure as to why Liverpool are pursuing a move for Gareth Barry and wonders if Rafa is looking to possibly reverting back to a possible 4-4-2.
There doesn't seem to be a day that doesn't go by where Gareth Barry's Aston Villa future is not up for debate. What started as a general enquiry by Rafa Benitez has opened up a huge can of worms, in which every man and his dog at Villa Park bemoaning the conduct of our football club.

Football FanCast
columnist Jerome Johnstone feels that Kevin Keegan made a valid point
and feels his words can be levied at a lot of other clubs.
Kevin Keegan is very much an enigma in football and you
really either love or loath him. I personally have great admiration and respect
for the man for the simple reason that in the modern day game it is rare that
you are treated to honesty. There are no flies on Kevin Keegan, no false
promises, no 5yr plans - a man who is desperate to bring success to a football
club and realises that he hasn't the resources at present to achieve it. What
is so wrong about that?

columnist Jerome Johnstone assesses the real value of being in the
Premier League and feels that Fulham may have every right to feel aggrieved if
they were to drop out of the top tier of English football.
One look at the Championship run-in yesterday really hit
home the enormity of the Premier League for me. The joyous scenes at the
Britannia stadium and the away end at Loftus Rd highlighted the passion and
huge desire of the respective football clubs in reaching the ‘promised land'
and more importantly the riches that go with it. A place in the top tier of
English football is valued at £40m and you can understand why both West Brom
and Stoke City's chairmen saw the need to crack open the bubbly last night as
the club financial future, especially in the current climate, looks assured for
the next few years.
