Football FanCast columnist Fanos Kyriacou would be sad to see Dimitar Berbatov leave the Lane as he is the epitome of everything you would want to see as a football fan.
There have been many articles written and views expressed about the future
of Dimitar Berbatov, is he staying, is he going? Should we try to keep him or
should we cash in now? There are good arguments for both and each argument
certainly has its merits but like most Spurs fans I have had enough and want
the whole saga to end so here are my final comments on the matter and I have
promised myself not to mention it again after this.
When people look back on the career of Darren Anderton the word ‘injured' is one of the first one that springs to mind. His injury plagued career earned him the nickname ‘sicknote' but I do feel that this reputation has somewhat masked the quality that he possessed on the football pitch. In a 12 year career at Spurs Anderton made 358 appearances scoring 48 goals not to mention countless assists.
Football FanCast columnist Fanos
Kyriacou is fed up to say the least of the constant hypocrisy of
Premier League managers.
According to Avram
Grant, Didier Drogba doesn't dive but Rafa Benitez says he does and yet Rafa
Benitez doesn't believe Steven Gerrard dives but the whole world can see he
does. Sir Alex Ferguson gets upset when decisions go against his team and then
promptly criticises the referee and yet when a team playing Man Utd get
decisions against them, Fergie praises the referee. Arsene Wenger says that
Birmingham's Martin Taylor should be banned for life after his challenge on
Eduardo and yet when one of his players does a similar challenge of course the
Arsenal player never meant it.
Football FanCast columnist Fanos Kyriacou is delighted by the signing of Luka Modric and wonders if its the positive sign of things to come.
Well how about that then? Spurs have won the race to sign the highly rated and highly sought after Croatian midfielder Luka Modric. This must surely come as a surprise to fans as the playmaker has been linked with pretty much all the top sides in Europe, so it is a fantastic coup for Juande Ramos and Damien Comolli (perhaps fans might get off our sporting director's back now).
Football FanCast columnist Fanos Kyriacou looks back at one of his favourite Spurs players and feels the current midfield is crying out for a Paul Allen type at this moment.
It is certainly true that we at Spurs have been blessed with some fantastic talent over the years and supporters all have their own heroes, Gazza, Hoddle, Waddle, Greaves, Blanchflower the list goes on and on. There are some players though in every club who don't get the praise that perhaps they deserve or whose contribution to that club seems to be overshadowed by the bigger more fashionable names.
Football FanCast columnist Fanos Kyriacou is disappointed with the Spurs teams performance, since that epic
Carling Cup final, and wonders why the players havent shown the same hunger and
desire as the man who for him has been their player of the season.
With only three wins in our ten games since we lifted the Carling Cup in
February, it is pretty obvious that most of the players look like they don't
give a damn and have been coasting to the end of the season. They have clearly
given up and as Harry Hockley said in his article on Saturday (What
would Billy Nick have made of this Tottenham rabble?) many of
them seem to be content with just winning the least prestigious trophy on
offer.
