The World Cup comes around once every four years, so once the opportunity presents itself, you can forgive players for rushing themselves back in order to participate in the festivities of it all.

Cristiano Ronaldo has only just returned to full training, Lionel Messi has had a stop-start season, and Sergio Aguero always seems ready to succumb to another ankle problem.

And while there have been a whole host of star names ruled out through long-term injuries – Marco Reus, Franck Ribery, Radamel Falcao, Theo Walcott – there are number of Premier League stars whose fitness is of a concern.
