Arsenal have managed to get through the current Premier League campaign relatively unscathed so far with the Gunners suffering very minor injuries to date.

Emile Smith Rowe has had to fight off the pandemic while the ever-reliable Takehiro Tomiyasu has been out for most of 2022 so far with a calf issue.

Both of them are now building up their fitness again but ahead of the club's top-flight clash with Liverpool on Wednesday, they may be without one of their most consistent performers.

What's the news?

That's according to AFC News Room founder Connor Humm who took to Twitter last night to reveal a huge worry for Arsenal supporters ahead of the crucial match this evening.

He said: "Understand Gabriel Magalhães wasn’t spotted at training today. It’s worth noting his girlfriend is 9 months pregnant so theirs a strong possibility he missed it due to that. I’m not sure if this means he will play tomorrow or not I must add."

Arteta will hate it

If Gabriel does indeed miss the match with Liverpool on Wednesday then it will leave the Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, sweating quite considerably.

After all, his defensive partnership with Ben White has been nothing short of superb this term.

Together with Aaron Ramsdale, the former Lille centre-back has helped the club to 12 Premier League clean sheets so to be without him would be a colossal blow.

Speaking about the 24-year-old earlier this term, Arteta was glowing in his praise: "We know that he’s a player with an incredible future and is already giving us a lot.

“He has adapted really well to the league. That’s why we signed him.

“He is stepping in, his language is much better and he can coach and communicate much better with his teammates."

That has been evident this season with the centre-half establishing one of the best defensive partnerships the club has had in a long period of time.

Left-footed, easy on the eye but most importantly a brute of a defender, he is exactly the type of character Arsenal have been missing in their backline.

What would make his absence even worse is that despite limping off the field last weekend, Mo Salah is set to be fit for the encounter on Wednesday evening.

If Gabriel isn't able to play then the Gunners could be in for a very tough night.
