Arsenal are making great strides in their attempts to lure Youri Tielemans to north London, according to transfer insider Dean Jones...

What's the word?

The Gunners were said to have already agreed on personal terms with the Belgian international, as per CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs, but talkSPORT recently suggested that Premier League rivals Manchester United had entered the race.

However, with just one year left on his current £120k-per-week contract at Leicester City, it appears that the north Londoners are leading the charge.

“Arsenal have definitely made inroads on this transfer, down to trying to discover what personal terms would be needed," revealed the Eurosport journalist to GIVEMESPORT.

It remains to be seen exactly how much the Foxes would want to part ways with one of Brenden Rodgers' standout performers, though some reports suggest that a £25m fee could be enough to entice them into a sale.

Exciting news

This update should leave many supporters around the Emirates Stadium absolutely buzzing as it seems as if Arsenal are going to land their fifth signing of the summer.

After securing the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira, manager Mikel Arteta could yet add another piece to the engine room with Tielemans.

The Belgian maestro is capable of adding goals and assists from a deeper-lying role - across his 24 goals and 24 assists, including the winner that clinched Leicester the FA Cup back in May 2021.

It's widely-regarded that the 5 foot 9 dynamo is the "creator" in the current Foxes side, at least according to The Athletic's Rob Tanner, whilst scout Jacek Kulig believes Tielemans is an "outrageous talent."

Meanwhile, FBref liken his playing style to that of an Ivan Rakitic or Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. He also ranks inside the top 12% of his positional peers across Europe for progressive passes (5.80) and expected assists (0.16) per 90.

On the above evidence, Tielemans would be a hugely exciting addition to Arsenal's squad and as such, fans will surely be thrilled by Jones' latest claims.
