Arsenal are plotting a second bid for Youri Tielemans, according to verified journalist Sacha Tavolieri...

What's the word?

"Youri #Tielemans stay in #Arsenal’s target lists, ready to make a second bid next week for #LCFC midfielder," the Belgian reporter revealed on Twitter.

"As announced yesterday, #Arteta valid the profile & next week will be decisive. More options for #AFC board: Sandro #Tonali, Moises #Caicedo."

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Leicester City midfielder, who is thought to be available for around £25m. Fabrizio Romano believes that he remains "top of the list" heading into the final week of the summer transfer window.

The next Aaron Ramsey

Back in July, it was believed that the Belgium international had already agreed on personal terms with technical director Edu Gaspar but were yet to submit an offer to the Foxes.

That could now change.

The north London giants are now running out of time to complete this deal and it is one that could benefit manager Mikel Arteta hugely as Tielemans is capable of providing goals and assists from midfield.

Just like the Spaniard's former teammate Aaron Ramsey, who delivered 64 goals and 65 assists across 371 appearances. That's a rate of one direct contribution every 185 minutes, a more than respectable return from someone deployed as a no.8 in the engine room.

In many ways, Tielemans is a similar sort of player, having scored or assisted 48 goals since his arrival in England back in July 2019.

The 25-year-old dynamo is also capable on set-pieces and can do his defensive duties adequately too - for example, he averaged 2.3 tackles per game in the Premier League last term, yet still scored six goals and laid on four assists, via WhoScored.

As per FBref, who liken Tielemans to other goalscoring box-to-box maestros such as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Leon Goretzka, the Foxes star was within the top 10% of other central midfielders for goal-creating actions (0.41 per 90) and ranked inside the top 13% for total shots (1.95 per 90).

That sort of threat, arriving late from deep, could certainly provide Arteta with his own Ramsey-like beast in the engine room.

Tielemans has been described as a "phenomenon" and an "outrageous talent" in the past, so undeniably, the Gunners would be getting an elite player capable of adding something important to the squad.

Edu must look to get a deal for the £33k-per-week maestro over the line before the 11pm deadline on September 1st.
