Arsenal could sign their next Alexis Sanchez in Shakhtar’s Manor Solomon

Arsenal could sign their next Alexis Sanchez in Shakhtar Donetsk starlet Manor Solomon.

What’s the story?

Reports back in January suggested that Mikel Arteta’s side are lining up a potential summer move for the £13.5m-rated Israel international, and given his latest comments, it appears that the Gunners could be well placed to lure him to the Emirates.

Speaking to Sport5 (as translated by Goal), Solomon said: “There are talks with teams from England. There are things that can happen in the summer.

“My dream is to play in England and it also seems to be the most realistic option for me. And teams in England can pay.”

Shades of Alexis Sanchez

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for Shakhtar this season, scoring five goals in 17 games in all competitions, including some real eye-catching performances in the Champions League.

He netted in both games against Real Madrid in the group stages as Donetsk shocked the European giants twice, and those big-game displays is something Arsenal fans became accustomed to when Alexis Sanchez was in his prime at the Emirates.

The Chile international always turned up on the big occasions for the Gunners. In 40 games against the rest of the Premier League’s big six, the former Barcelona man scored 11 goals and provided a further four assists – he of course scored in both the semi-final and final of Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph back in 2017.

And in Solomon, Edu could well sign the Gunners’ next Sanchez. Not only does the Israeli produce when the spotlight is on as seen by his goal-scoring displays against Madrid, but he also possesses very similar traits and characteristics to the former Arsenal star.

Do you miss Alexis Sanchez?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Described as someone with “real quality“, Solomon is a wing wizard, able to travel with the ball so quickly and commit opposition defences. The 21-year-old is direct and always looking to penetrate, much like Sanchez in his pomp, and he averaged 2.7 successful dribbles per game at an astonishing accuracy of 80% in the Champions League this season.

If Edu is looking to finally replace the hole left by Sanchez’s departure when he joined Manchester United a couple of years ago, Solomon looks like he has all the tools in his locker to be that player.
