Edu can finally sign Arsenal's new Alexis Sanchez in Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish this summer amid an exciting transfer update.

What's the story?

Having already secured the signing of Nuno Tavares, and appearing close to clinching deals for both Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga, it appears that the Gunners are keen on another talented star.

The England international enjoyed a fine campaign for Villa last season in the Premier League, bagging six goals and providing another 12 assists in the top flight. That has seen reports linking him with a big-money to Manchester City this summer, but it now appears that other clubs also have their eye on him.

According to The Athletic, Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are "among those who admire him", although it's City who are leading the race to land him.

Arsenal's new Alexis Sanchez

While Sanchez's time at Arsenal ended on a sour note given his move to Premier League rivals Manchester United, there's no questioning that he was an absolute superstar when he was on the pitch.

The Chile international always turned up on the big occasion for the Gunners. In 40 games against the rest of the Premier League's big six, the former Barcelona man scored 11 goals and provided a further four assists - he famously scored in both the semi-final and final of Arsenal's FA Cup triumph back in 2017.

The £34m-rated Grealish has the same kind of directness and fearlessness that Sanchez showed in his prime at the Emirates Stadium, and he could bring that same kind of swagger were he to join the north Londoners this summer.

Former Villa man Kieran Richardson talked up that ability to beat players one-one-one in an interview, and it makes for exciting reading for Arsenal fans.

He said: "Jack Grealish, he’s a phenomenal talent. When I was there (Villa) playing he was coming through and you could see from the get-go he was a top, top player. The way he can just ghost past players, he’s so strong, he rides challenges. Even if you knock him down he’ll get back up and keep going, he won’t shy away from anything.

"He’s very confident on the ball, he’ll take the ball whenever he can. He’s a top player and the way he’s built as well, he’s massive, his legs are absolutely massive. Even when I first saw him I was like 'This guy’s a unit'."

Just like how Sanchez used to dance past challenges, Grealish could hopefully do the same in an Arsenal shirt too.
