Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arnaut Danjuma is currently in London to decide his future amid talk he could be targeted by Arsenal.

What's the word?

It seems the Gunners' transfer team will have to go back to the drawing board after their number one January target Mykhailo Mudryk looks set to join Chelsea instead for a mammoth £88.5m fee.

Consequently, alternative names are already beginning to pop up as potential options for Arsenal and Danjuma had already been touted as a target before the Mudryk deal collapsed.

According to Romano, the Villarreal man is currently in London, and so this could be one to keep an eye on as he is very likely to join a Premier League team this winter.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the journalist said (05:34): “On Danjuma to Arsenal. Guys, Danjuma is a very good player. It's true that he's in London as it was around tonight, the player is in London together with his agent to decide his future.

"Many clubs approach Villarreal for Danjuma. So for example, Everton, Bournemouth, many clubs. Let's see if now other clubs will jump in to try to sign Danjuma but I think there is a very good chance for him to join Premier League clubs to return to Premier League in the next days.

"Now we will see how Arsenal will react.”

Cheaper option?

Of course, seeing as Everton and Bournemouth are already the teams most strongly linked with Danjuma – as well as Tottenham and Aston Villa – it might be too late for the Gunners to muscle in and make a move.

However, as the Mudryk deal with Chelsea has proven, you know never know what direction a transfer will take next until the final contracts have all been signed and completed.

Danjuma could be an exciting prospect too. While he has struggled for regular game time this term, starting just six La Liga games so far, last season he was excellent for Villarreal. Indeed, he provided 16 goals and four assists in 34 games across all competitions, helping his side make the Champions League semi-final.

With that in mind, if there is a deal to be done here, perhaps he could be a pretty handy alternative to Mudryk. He surely wouldn't cost nearly as much either.
