Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the agent of Ivan Fresneda will be in London next week amid growing links to Arsenal.

What's the word?

The Real Valladolid right-back has been linked with a move to the Gunners of late, with a move to the Premier League leaders said to be 'practically closed'.

That is according to reports in Spanish media, which suggest that Real Madrid also have an interest in the player, though Carlo Ancelotti's hesitation has allowed Arsenal to swoop in with an offer.

However, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has revealed that this isn't quite a done deal yet, while Fresneda's agent will be coming to London to work on a potential transfer next week.

The journalist explained: "We have to keep an eye on the situation on Ivan Fresneda. We have rumours of a done deal with Arsenal. What I'm told is that at the moment, there is still no agreement with any club. The agent of Fresneda will be in London next week."

Great depth

Alongside those links to Real Madrid, Newcastle United have also been linked with a move for the youngster, so he must be pretty highly rated by a number of top scouts.

And he no doubt impressed against Los Blancos when the two Spanish teams met in December, as he picked up a 7.2 Sofascore player rating, along with three clearances, two interceptions, eight tackles, 10/15 successful ground duels and one key pass.

That's no surprise seeing as although he is just 18 years of age, Fresneda has already established himself as a regular in the Real Valladolid first team, playing 11 times in all competitions this season - a figure which would likely be higher if it wasn't for injuries. What's more, with Arsenal right-back Cedric understood to be closing in on a move to Fulham, Mikel Arteta will surely want to retain an alternative option in the team should Ben White or Takehiro Tomiyasu pick up any fitness struggles in the second half of the season.
