Arsenal: Dharmesh Sheth moots Joao Felix loan amid “positive talks”

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has mooted a January loan move for Joao Felix to Arsenal with ‘positive talks’ now continuing.

What’s the word?

With the Gunners hoping to maintain their current title charge, as they sit top of the Premier League table, they look likely to use the winter market as a way of bolstering their squad.

However, doubt remains over their hopes of signing Mykhailo Mudryk with Chelsea now linked with the player too. With all that going on, Arsenal are also understood to be chasing Atletico Madrid ace Felix.

And in a fresh update on the situation, while talking on the Transfer Talk Podcast, Sheth claimed that with positive talks ongoing, a move would suit all parties – especially if you put money to one side.

He said: (21:19): “But this is where it gets difficult because Atletico, we’re told, want around £19m for that six-month loan deal. That’s for a loan fee and the wages.

Arsenal, of course, feel that’s far too much just for a six-month loan. But if you take away the figures just for one moment, I think for both clubs, this type of deal would work.”

Should Arsenal pay £19m to loan Joao Felix?

Worth every penny?

Clearly, that touted £19m fee is an awful lot of money to pay to have just one player on a spell that would actually be less than six months with the Premier League and Europa League ending in May.

However, if Felix could fire the Gunners to success in either of those competitions, not much would be mentioned about the loan fee in the long run.

The 23-year-old’s talent is undeniable too. For instance, despite having played just 576 minutes of football in La Liga this term, he has still managed to score four goals and provide three assists – which is a goal contribution every 82.3 minutes.

And if Atletico don’t want Felix, and the player wants to leave, Arsenal could certainly do with that sort of quality to help aid their season ambitions.

It’ll be interesting to see how this develops with talks continuing.
