By now, it is no secret that Arsenal want to sign Atletico Madrid's talented midfielder, Thomas Partey. Of course, this is obviously going to be easier said than done since Diego Simeone is also adamant on keeping the player at the club.

Partey also has a £43m release clause but at the moment, Mikel Arteta is reluctant to go down that path and would rather strike some sort of a deal with the selling club.

Now, however, according to the latest report from Daily Mirror, the Gunners would be willing to sacrifice three stars in order to fund the deal to bring Partey to the Premier League.

The player is simply a priority for the club and it seems that they will go to great lengths to seal his transfer. Daily Mirror state the likes of Matteo Guendouzi, Sokratis and Rob Holding are on the chopping list and could be used to gather funds for Partey.

Apart from them, the same source explains, Arsenal would ideally want to offload Mesut Ozil as well but this could be a very difficult operation. Even though Daily Mirror state the star midfielder has a huge offer of around £15m a year on the table by Al-Nassr, he is still adamant on seeing out his £350,000-per-week contract which is set to expire the following year.

With him still weighing down the wage bill and the current climate not being kind on Arsenal's funds, it could be difficult for Arteta to get the deal for Partey over the line.

Verdict

The easiest way for Arsenal to actually get their man would indeed be through the release clause. £43m is not a small fee but it's also not too far out of their reach.

If the Gunners manage to offload some of their 'deadwood' and unwanted stars, this transfer could suddenly become a reality.
