Arsenal could replicate Bellingham raid with Warren Zaire-Emery

Arsenal are interested in a move for teenage sensation Warren Zaire-Emery…

What’s the word?

That’s according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who revealed that the Gunners are keen to sign the 16-year-old from Paris Saint-Germain.

“Several clubs including Arsenal are keenly interested in Warren Zaire-Emery for a mid-term move. For PSG, the young midfielder is non-transferable!” he tweeted.

The France U19 international, who broke a club record with his senior debut back August 2022, is under contract with the Ligue 1 giants until 2025.

Should Arsenal sign Zaire-Emery?

Bellingham 2.0

If Arsenal’s hierarchy and sporting director Edu Gaspar were to prize the potential generational talent away from his home country, then they could well replicate what the world has seen with Jude Bellingham.

The current Borussia Dortmund star made his first-team breakthrough at a very similar age for Birmingham City and by the age of 17, he was sold to the Bundesliga outfit for an initial £25m.

Bellingham is the absolute proof that age can be nothing but a number in football as if you’re good enough, you can start matches at the highest level and this blueprint is likely one that the Gunners are trying to follow with Zaire-Emery.

PSG’s engine room is blessed with an array of quality, ranging from established internationals such as Marco Verratti to up-and-coming gems like Vitinha, so to have already made seven top-flight appearances this season is certainly a credit to his ability.

Arsenal are top at Christmas but when was the last time they won the league title from this position?

The 16-year-old is considered to be something of a deep-lying playmaker, capable of winning the ball back and launching play forward – you could say, in a similar vein to that of Bellingham and his box-to-box credentials.

Indeed, pace, passing and tackling are some of his absolute strongest attributes, according to scout Jacek Kulig, who also likened him to Luka Modric and even dubbed the teen as an “elite talent” after a record-breaking 2022.

Also lauded as a “ridiculous talent” by GOAL editor Tom Maston, it’s clear that Zaire-Emery could be the next big thing in Europe, so Arsenal must do all they can to lure him to the club, if not this month, in the summer.

The “tough” enforcer – as described by journalist Hadrien Grenier – has already shown he can more than hold his own at this level, having started for the Parisians in their latest league outing.

In following the footsteps of Bellingham, the teenage wonderkid is surely going to forge an exciting career over the next few years, given the evidence above.
