Having been no strangers to the transfer market and very active behind the scenes during transfer windows in the past, it seems as though Aston Villa may already have some ideas in place about how they want to tackle the upcoming summer transfer window.

What's the news?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones was discussing the possibility of Villa making a move to sign Inter Milan midfielder Arturo Vidal in the upcoming summer transfer window, with the Midlands club being linked with the 34-year-old in recent days.

He said: "I would be surprised if Villa specifically went for Vidal, but I understand in terms of the profile and the experience why they would want somebody like Vidal."

Taking into account how Villa missed out on a January move for Rodrigo Bentancur after apparently not being able to work out terms for a deal with Juventus before he joined Tottenham, and after having a bid rejected by Brighton for Yves Bissouma, it's understandable why they have now been linked with a move for the Chile international.

Fans will be raging

Having heard Jones' thoughts on the likelihood of Villa making a move to sign the 34-year-old in the summer, it seems as though the supporters at Villa Park shouldn't get their hopes up over the possibility of seeing Vidal donning a claret and blue shirt any time soon. That would surely be a disappointing prospect for them, especially as he would be a cheaper option than Bissouma or Wilfred Ndidi, who has also been linked with the club recently.

With 609 club appearances under his belt and 109 goals, 80 assists and a plethora of trophies on his CV with top clubs such as Juventus, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, the Chilean would certainly bring a winning mentality and ample top-level experience with him if he does fancy a go in the Premier League with Villa next season.

Even though Villa have not been shy when it comes to spending significant amounts of money on new players over the years, the fact that Vidal's current contract at Inter is set to expire in the summer could make him a potential free agent for the Midlands club to poach when the summer transfer window opens.
