Aston Villa will be hoping to get back to winning ways tonight, as they travel to Craven Cottage to face an impressive Fulham side.

Pressure seems to be mounting on Steven Gerrard, who has just one win in his last eight Premier League matches.

With rumours of Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino being touted for his position, this game represents a fine chance to relieve some of the issues plaguing his side.

He will also be keen to see the Midlands club creep away from the relegation zone, from which they sit above only on goal difference.

Having played just last weekend, the 42-year-old might slightly freshen up his side amidst an ever-growing schedule.

With that in mind, here’s the Aston Villa XI Football FanCast are predicting for tonight’s game…

Gerrard can be expected to make just two changes from his side that fell to defeat against Chelsea.

Emiliano Martinez will continue in goal despite having kept just two clean sheets in ten Premier League games.

He will sit behind an unchanged defence, with no options available to replace Tyrone Mings despite his terrible display against the Blues where he was the culprit for Mason Mount's opener. The 29-year-old will partner Ezri Konsa, whilst Matty Cash and Ashley Young will maintain the width of the defence.

It can be expected that Gerrard will also name an unchanged midfield, with Jacob Ramsey expected to continue being the link between the defence and the attack.

Where there will be more wholesale changes is in the front three, as despite a few attacking flurries they struggled to truly threaten Graham Potter’s side.

Ollie Watkins will be deployed in his favoured central striker role, after a toothless display off the left against Chelsea. That will see Danny Ings drop from the side.

Despite the £120k-per-week marksman having been previously labelled a potential “Holte End hero” by Gary Shaw, just one goal this season has seen him really let down his manager.

He will be replaced by Emiliano Buendia on the right flank, whilst Philippe Coutinho will return at the expense of Leon Bailey despite also underwhelming throughout the campaign. The Brazilian is yet to contribute at all offensively in ten league games.
