Aston Villa have surprisingly been regularly linked with West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek this summer and Steven Gerrard's side could be set to benefit from a fall-out at the London Stadium.

What's the word?

It was reported earlier in the summer that Soucek and David Moyes had a disagreement over a new contract for the Czech Republic international, which opened the door for him to depart the Hammers.

Villa were one side said to be interested in signing the 27-year-old, and there is little doubt that he would be a strong addition at Villa Park, considering his impressive performances for the Irons in recent seasons.

In a recent interview with GIVEMESPORT, Daily Star journalist Paul Brown offered his thoughts on the situation, saying:

“There was talk a couple of weeks ago that he’d fallen out with the manager. That’s never been confirmed by anyone at West Ham, but it does seem like Soucek might leave this window.”

Supporters will be buzzing

Villa are seemingly in the market for a central midfielder this summer, especially with Douglas Luiz's future at the club in doubt, and Soucek could be a superb addition in the middle of the park.

The former Slavia Prague man has contributed 18 goals and two assists in 101 appearances for the Hammers, despite predominantly featuring as a defensive midfielder.

Last season saw him average an impressive 6.98 rating from WhoScored for his performances in the Premier League, while he also played a big part in West Ham's Europa League success, averaging a 7.08 rating across his 11 appearances.

Only John McGinn would average better in Villa's side last season, which goes to show just what Soucek could add to Gerrard's side next season.

While the Villans possess some superb quality in midfield, with McGinn, Jacob Ramsay, Emi Buendia and Philippe Coutinho all extremely talented players, Gerrard arguably lacks someone with the physicality of Soucek, who is more than capable of doing the dirty work while also popping up with goals.

The Czech - who has previously been described as a "machine" by Sam Inkersole - excels at aerial duels, ball interceptions and blocking, which emphasises his ability as a defensive midfielder, and Villa fans will be delighted to hear that the door is seemingly open for him to leave West Ham this summer.
