They have had an offer rejected by the midfielder, who is on loan to Coventry City, but it is suggested that they will be going back in with a fresh one.

His current deal comes to an end in the summer, so Villa fans are keen to see their club getting him tied down to a new one quickly.

One fan has suggested that it is "ridiculous it's not done already", while others are pushing for him to be signed after what has been an encouraging season for the 21-year-old so far.

He has made 22 starts and 16 substitute appearances across all competitions for Coventry, getting a return of four goals and three assists for the side sitting five points clear at the top of League One.

He also makes an impact with his general play, averaging 1.3 key passes, 0.7 dribbles and 1.7 tackles, while he is also fouled twice per game.

There are some who even feel that he is ready to take the step up and come into Dean Smith's side next season.

With Villa still occupying a place in the relegation zone, it is unknown what league they will find themselves in for the 2020/21 campaign.

If they are in the Championship, there is a real chance that the academy graduate could get some substantial game time at Villa - especially as Jack Grealish will be leaving if they are relegated.

Meanwhile, fans have been discussing Gregg Evans' transfer admission.
