Amid speculation linking Aston Villa with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon, one man at Villa Park who might be looking nervously over his shoulder is Anwar El Ghazi.

Reports back in the summer of 2020 suggested that Dean Smith's side were among a number of Premier League teams who were interested in signing the 22-year-old.

In a recent update from Italian outlet AS Roma Live, the Midlands club are continuing to follow Solomon ahead of a potential move, with his agent now confirming that a transfer away from Ukraine could happen.

A Villa move for Solomon would leave El Ghazi in an even more precarious position than he already is, with reports in recent weeks and months suggesting that the Dutchman is someone who the club would be happy to offload to recoup some funds.

It was suggested that Villa would accept a bid in the region of £17m for the winger, with Serie A giants AS Roma having a strong interest in getting talks underway.

A deal failed to materialise before the transfer window deadline, but if Villa now pull off a swoop for Solomon, that could be curtains for El Ghazi.

The Israel international was in impressive form for Shakhtar last year, scoring 11 goals in 35 games in all competitions, including netting in both matches in the Champions League group stage against Real Madrid.

Described as someone with "real quality", Solomon is as exciting as they come, and he has an impressive career average of 2.6 successful dribbles per game - to put that into context, that's actually far more than what Villa's summer signing Leon Bailey has managed (1.9 per match).

With El Ghazi potentially on his way out of Villa Park, Solomon's prospective signing could be the perfect replacement for the Dutchman and give Smith the potential of fielding an electric wide duo of the 5 foot 6 flier and Bailey on either side.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are now tracking this 6 foot 1 "monster"...
