According to Sky in Germany, Aston Villa transfer target Milot Rashica could be on his way to Hertha Berlin.
Reports over the course of the summer transfer window suggested that the Werder Bremen flier was of major interest to Dean Smith’s side, but a deal failed to materialise before the end of the deadline.
And then, ahead of the January window, it was suggested that Rashica remained on Villa’s radar as a potential new signing, but it now appears that the Midlands club could miss out on one of their targets.
Sky in Germany claim that Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin have opened talks over bringing him in on loan, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
The fact that Villa have kept their eye on Rashica for two transfer windows now is an indication of how highly they rate the Bosnia & Herzegovina international, and when you look at his track record with Werder Bremen, it’s no surprise why.
Prior to his current injury-riddled campaign, the versatile forward had reached double figures in terms of goals in the past two seasons. The £16.2m-rated dynamo would offer Villa that X-factor as they look to chase down an incredible European spot.
Rashica’s manager at Bremen, Florian Kohfeldt, waxed lyrical about his ability, saying: “He is a player who can decide Bundesliga games. You don’t find that very often. Milot has incredible skills. In speed, in goal scoring, in passing. These skills also fall on others. Rashica would fit well to England with his pace, but also with his style of play to Spain.”
With Hertha closing in on his signing however, time is running out for Johan Lange to tempt Rashica to Villa Park. He must make a last-gasp swoop for the exciting attacker on deadline day.
Meanwhile, this Aston Villa dynamo is now Dean Smith’s unsung hero…
