Aston Villa manager Unai Emery will likely be looking to bring in another forward option this month despite the addition of Jhon Duran this week.

What's the latest?

Villa have seen a flurry of transfer activity concerning forwards over the last week with Danny Ings recently departing Villa Park for West Ham United.

And since, Emery has seen the Colombian striker, Duran, come through the doors from Chicago Fire in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £18m.

However, there are still a handful of days remaining in this January transfer market and a belief that Villa may not be done in their dealings.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Pete O'Rourke has suggested that Villa could still look to provide the Spaniard with more attacking options before Tuesday's 11pm deadline:

"I would imagine Unai Emery would like to bring in another forward to add to his attacking options at Villa Park. Ollie Watkins is the regular number nine as well and now they've got Duran as well from MLS who's obviously highly rated but unproven at the highest level, so it might take him a while to adapt to new surroundings."

More options

Losing Ings may have come as a surprise to some given the 30-year-old had actually provided a fairly healthy return in the Premier League this season.

In his 18 appearances for Villa in the league, Ings was able to provide six goals with three of those coming in the six league appearances under Emery.

In his place, Villa have signed a promising 19-year-old striker who has returned eight goals and five assists across his 27 appearances in the MLS.

However, at such a young age, he will be unable to provide Villa with the experience up top which Ings was able to do given he has 189 Premier League games under his belt.

This will likely feed into O'Rourke's comments in Villa potentially looking to provide Emery with another option at the top end of the pitch.

There have been links to the likes of Luiz Henrique and Jonathan David who - although may not be much older than Duran - would provide Emery with some further firepower.

By no means are Villa in danger of falling into the relegation scrap, however, without Ings' added goals to the four which Ollie Watkins has provided, it could prove problematic for Villa.

And the last thing Emery will want is Duran to arrive at the age of 19 and immediately feel the pressure from the club to provide instant goals despite being brand new to the Premier League.
