Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard should part ways with Keinan Davis this summer.

The 24-year-old has been at the Midlands outfit since 2015, where he was signed following a four-week trial, having impressed scouts.

Davis has gone on to make 86 senior appearances but very rarely has he held down a regular place in the first-team squad, which resulted in him going out on loan back in January.

Championship side Nottingham Forest took him on for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign and it paid dividends as the 6 foot 3 frontman bagged five goals in 22 games on the Reds' way to sealing promotion back to the Premier League.

"Keinan is an excellent footballer. He is a strong, strong boy. He has good feet and he can see a pass," claimed Forest boss Steve Cooper to The Athletic. "What I love about him is that he is so selfless. He is such a team player. He is making an excellent contribution."

Davis' value has surely now risen after he played a major part in their playoff success but instead of taking a place in Gerrard's squad, he ought to be sold for a decent profit.

He'll only be competing with both Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins, and even potentially a third striker, given reports suggesting that the former Rangers boss is looking for another option.

The £2.25m-rated forward, who earns around £45k-per-week (more than first-team regulars John McGinn and Douglas Luiz), has only managed to score six goals across his 86 appearances - a rate of just one every 14 games.

It would be best for both the club and player to go their different ways with a fresh start this summer.

Over the last seven years, Villa have spent in the region of £15.4m on his wages alone - excluding his time at the City Ground - enough of a sum to pay for a new signing.

That means he has cost a total of £2.56m per goal scored, despite being dubbed as "unplayable" by former teammate Jack Grealish.

In the long run, that's just not going to work out, so after a successful loan stint, Gerrard should take what he can for Davis before deadline day on September 1st.

AND in other news, Lange could seal "great talent" as next signing, just imagine him & Coutinho...
