Aston Villa outcast now attracting EFL interest

Aston Villa‘s forgotten striker Keinan Davis is attracting interest from the Championship once again ahead of the summer transfer window deadline…

What’s the word?

According to Football League World, Watford are in the race to sign the 24-year-old forward on what would be an initial loan move.

Davis went out on loan to Nottingham Forest as they won promotion back to the Premier League last season and appears to be well down the pecking order under manager Steven Gerrard.

The Hornets could lose Emmanuel Dennis before the end of the window, so it would make sense for their boss Rob Edwards to seek an additional option.

Is it time for Keinan Davis to leave Villa?

YES!

YES!

NO!

NO!

Time’s up, Keinan

With Cameron Archer remaining a part of Gerrard’s senior squad for the season, it would make sense for Villa to move the long-serving academy graduate on as he’s simply not going to feature.

The former England U20 international has racked up 86 first-team appearances for the Midlands side over the course of his career but only two of those matches came last season.

Gerrard is yet to even use him since he took over from Dean Smith back in November, so it certainly appears as if the writing is on the wall for Davis.

Which club did Villa sign Leon Bailey from in the 2021 summer transfer window?

His tally of five goals across 22 games for the Reds in the second tier is hardly inspiring and isn’t going to convince the former Rangers boss that he should be in the squad ahead of Ollie Watkins or Danny Ings, let alone the promising talents of Archer, who outscored him on loan to Preston North End (seven goals in 20 matches).

Davis was once lauded as “unplayable” by former Villa star Jack Grealish but we’ve very rarely seen such exploits in the claret and blue and when you consider that he’s raking in around £45k-per-week, which is more than skipper John McGinn, then sporting director Johan Lange must look to offload him whilst there is red-hot interest.

It’s time for Villa to part ways with the Bodymoor Heath talent as their eighth exit of the summer.

After five years in and around the first-team, it’s clear that he’s just not going to make it, especially any time soon, so it would be best for all parties to reach an agreement before deadline day on September 1st.

AND in other news, Gerrard set to make another Aston Villa mistake after Tyrone Mings debacle…
