Aston Villa have been linked with multiple Villarreal stars following the arrival of manager Unai Emery from the Spanish outfit in October, and there is one ace in particular who simply must be considered.

Indeed, the Premier League competitors have landed Alex Moreno from Real Betis and Jhon Duran from Chicago Fire thus far this month, but the work is not done, with Emery targeting a striker and winger at the very least.

Earlier this month, 90min reported that Villa's Spanish boss is indeed targeting one of his former gems, and could instigate a move before the culmination of the January transfer window, with Samuel Chukwueze among the touted names.

The news is bolstered by a report from Football Insider that claims Chukwueze is among the very top targets this winter, and a transfer attempt could be forthcoming.

There may well be concerns over the player's €50m (£44m) price tag, but this could be swiftly cast aside when considering Emery's willingness to part with a similar amount for Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams, who recently rejected the outfit.

This season, the "explosive" 23-year-old - as dubbed by scout Jacek Kulig - has plundered eight goals and seven assists from just 19 starting appearances across all competitions, and could bring an invaluable layer of potency and quality to the wide flanks at Villa Park.

As per FBref, he ranks among the top 2% of attacking midfielders and wingers in Europe's top five leagues for dribbles completed over the past year, while in the top 14% for touches in the attacking penalty area, which illustrates the progressive, transitional aura he can instil across the Claret & Blue ranks.

And with his introduction, the idea of potentially landing Udinese's Gerard Deulofeu could be thrown in the bin, with the La Liga star much more likely to flourish in the long term than his Spanish positional peer.

The 28-year-old former Barcelona star is much older than his burgeoning counterpart, and while his creativity would be welcomed by Emery, the more dynamic Chukwueze could make marked improvement across several dimensions of the attack.

As such, Johan Lange must ditch any plans to sign Deulofeu, with the Yellow Submarine phenom Chukwueze the dream acquisition to get the Villa Park faithful rocking.

Chukwueze would be a sterling addition to the Aston Villa ranks, and with his inclusion, the club could utilise his wily wing play to take the crucial next step in their development under Emery's management.
