Germany coach Joachim Low was unhappy with the way the crowd turned on Manuel Neuer after his mistake against Kazakhstan.
The Bayern Munich custodian is firmly established as the German number one but he made a mistake just after the break which let the opposition get on the score sheet.
It did not affect the match’s result as goals from Marco Reus, Mario Gotze and Ilkay Gundogan gave the hosts a 3-0 half-time lead, and Reus added another on the stroke of full time to put some further gloss on the score line.
Despite the ease of victory, the home fans made their feelings known to Neuer about his error, and Low feels it was unnecessary.
“What I do not like is the way that Manuel Neuer got whistled after his mistake,” he said.
“He belongs to the best keepers in the world and he made one mistake.
“I do not think it is sporting that he was made the subject of the fans’ irony for the rest of the game.”
