According to a new report from 90min, Manchester City's Leroy Sane is still very keen on joining Bayern Munich despite reports in Germany which claim the opposite.

What's the word, then?

If the initial report from Bild is anything to go by, Sane is apparently brooding and is currently thinking hard about his future, which could bring the whole deal into jeopardy.

But 90min have published an exclusive update, stating that Sane still wants a move to the Bundesliga. With 18 months left on his current contract, the forward wants the deal done as soon as possible amid fears that competition for places from Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva could disrupt his development.

For that reason, as the source explains, there is an expectation from the English outfit that a deal with Bayern will be struck before the summer transfer window even kicks off and the club are already preparing for a future without the elegant winger in the squad.

Verdict

If this transfer ends up turning into one big soap opera maybe it wouldn't be so crazy for Bayern Munich to just walk away from the deal altogether - particularly given his fitness issues of late.

The young winger is still recovering from his cruciate ligament rupture and the rehabilitation process following such career hampering injuries can be lengthy and also disruptive to a player's effectiveness.

The last thing they need right now is an expensive star on big wages who may no longer be the player he was when he first set foot in Manchester.
