According to some new information gathered by FCInterNews, RB Leipzig, Werder Bremen and a surprise bidder, West Ham, could attempt to hijack Newcastle United's deal for Inter Milan's Valentino Lazaro, who moved to the San Siro for €22m (£20m) last summer.
What's the word, then?
Right now, the Magpies are still leading the race for the coveted signature but if they don't act quick, the deal could very well be hijacked by other suitors.
The same source state that transfer is well on its way but currently nothing is closed for Newcastle just yet, and that leaves the door open for the likes of RB Leipzig, Werder Bremen and West Ham, who are all expressing an interest, to capitalise.

One way or the other, Inter want to get rid of the player and would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy - better if it can get negotiated at a high price and even better if a clause of mandatory purchase is inserted.
While Newcastle could see the deal sealed quickly, Lazaro's entourage are taking things slow and evaluating all potential options.
Verdict
At the moment, it does seem like Leipzig are still behind Newcastle in the race for the 23-year-old ace but if FCInterNews' report is anything to go by, the deal is somewhat stalling and this means there's still a chance for a final twist or two.
Lazaro already has experience playing for Red Bull teams since he spent six years at RB Salzburg and maybe that could play a part in his final decision.
Leipzig have an excellent project going on their hands - they're currently top of the Bundesliga and don't have many players of Lazaro's profile in their squad at the moment.
Wide midfielders seem to be a rarity and for a team that's planning to maintain that spot on top of the mountain, any reinforcements would be welcome.
Only time will tell how this saga pans out.
