Celtic can get rid of Albian Ajeti by signing Bamba Dieng

Celtic have seen numerous players leaving Parkhead during this summer’s transfer window.

One man who remains in Ange Postecoglou’s squad but who we feel should be joining the likes of Tom Rogic, Nir Bitton, Karamoko Dembele and Ismaila Soro in leaving the Hoops before the transfer window closes is Albian Ajeti.

After starting just six of his 17 appearances across all competitions last season, the 25-year-old has not been included in any of Celtic’s three Premiership matchday squads this term, which shows just how far down the pecking order he has fallen.

In fact, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie said back in March that it was “unbelievable” that the Swiss marksman is still at the club.

With the last two weeks of the transfer window in mind, it should be a priority for the Hoops to not only get Ajeti out of the club but bring in another striker who would likely have a better chance of making an impact on the team.

One player who has been mentioned with a move to Celtic and who could help in this regard, possibly pushing the Switzerland international out the door, is Marseille’s Bamba Dieng.

First up in this Celtic transfer quiz, which club did Celtic sign Christopher Jullien from?

Having made 42 senior appearances for the French club, the 22-year-old has nine goals and three assists to his name.

In his 25 Ligue 1 games last season, the striker racked up 37 shots at goal (18 on target), leaving him with the highest percentage for shots on target (48.6%) in the squad.

Do Celtic need to get rid of Ajeti this summer?

Even though Celtic outcast Ajeti only had nine shots at goal in the league last season, his percentage for shots on target (44.4%) still ended up being lower than Dieng’s.

Described as a “serious talent” by journalist Graeme Bailey, the Senegal international has a reported price tag of €15m (£12.6m), which shows the sort of investment that it would take from Celtic to get him to the club.

If the Bhoys and Postecoglou can cash in on Ajeti and any other players they may want to offload before the transfer window closes, launching a move for Dieng could be a very smart move for the Parkhead club as they look to retain the Premiership title and make a mark in the Champions League this season.
