Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has reportedly caught the eye of Premier League side, Brighton and Hove Albion, amid the Seagulls' current managerial search.

What's the word?

That's according to journalist Charlie Haffenden, who revealed on Twitter:

"Ange Postecoglou is among a list of priority targets to replace Graham Potter at Brighton, I’m told. The Aussie has led Celtic to 49 wins in 68 matches (72%), gaining 2.26 points per match since joining in 2021. Not easy to pry away, but a key target nonetheless."

The Amex outfit are on the hunt for a new head coach following the recent departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea, with the Englishman having replaced Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge earlier this week.

While there has been suggestion that the current Hoops boss is not seeking an exit from Parkhead any time soon, further reports indicate that the 56-year-old is still under 'serious consideration' by the south coast, despite their recent talks with Roberto De Zerbi.

Potential disaster

Although it is had to believe that Postecoglou would walk away from the Champions League football on offer with the Old Firm outfit, it will still be of great concern to both supporters and the club that he is attracting such intense interest.

The former Yokohama boss has no doubt earned such clamour, however, following the tremendous job he has done in Glasgow thus far, transforming both a team and a club that was seemingly going nowhere under his predecessor Neil Lennon.

Having arrived in Scotland as a relative unknown last summer after a protracted pursuit of Eddie Howe, the attack-minded coach went on to inspire an almost instant revival of fortunes, shaking off a slow start to last season to help guide his side to a richly-deserved league title.

That imperious form has continued into the new campaign with the Scottish Premiership side picking up six wins from six in the league in convincing fashion, with their unbeaten run in the top-flight now stretching back to last September.

The past week has been particularly memorable for the Greece-born visionary as he oversaw a stunning 4-0 thrashing of bitter rivals Rangers, before earning rave reviews despite defeat at the hands of European champions Real Madrid in midweek.

Not only has it been the impressive string of results that have earned wider attention, but also the manner in which his side have gone about it, with Postecoglou's attacking, free-flowing style of play particularly pleasing on the eye.

Having also enjoyed success after success in the transfer market thus far, the one-time Australia boss seemingly can't put a foot wrong at present, hence the feeling that it would be a real disaster were he to depart any time soon.

As former Hoops striker Chris Sutton suggested, a move to a more elite side is perhaps something of an inevitability for the Celtic coach in the future - with Manchester City believed to be one such admirer - although the hope will be that Brighton isn't too great of a pull at present.

If Postecoglou were to be tempted into an exit, however, it'd be hard for the Hoops to know where to go next.
