Celtic are continuing their imperious form under Ange Postecoglou at present having picked up seven wins from just their opening eight league games thus far, securing victory over Motherwell in their latest Scottish Premiership outing at the weekend.

That narrow victory at Parkhead saw goals from Kyogo Furuhasi and Reo Hatate prove decisive for the champions, with the Japanese duo having yet again stolen the limelight for the Old Firm outfit.

The same cannot be said of their compatriot Daizen Maeda, however, with the 24-year-old still waiting to get off the mark in the top-flight so far this term, with the only goal from his 11 appearances having come against Ross County in the League Cup.

The January arrival - who was part of a triple J-League swoop alongside the aforementioned Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi - notably missed gilt-edged chances against both Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, with his end product seemingly not always on par with his relentless work ethic.

The "one man closing down machine" - as dubbed by ex-Hoops striker Chris Sutton - does offer a tireless presence in attack, although there may well be a nagging feeling as to whether he does have that real quality when it matters, as his recent goal drought has laid bare.

One man from the not-too-distant past who was able to regularly deliver the goods in attack was former Bhoys playmaker Kris Commons, with the 12-cap, Scotland international proving himself a prolific goal-getter and provider during his time in Glasgow.

Plucked from Derby County for a bargain fee of just £300k by Neil Lennon in January 2011, the attacking genius went on to emerge as a real leading figure for the Scottish giants, quickly cementing his status as a fan favourite after netting 11 goals and providing four assists in just 14 league games during the second half of the 2010/11 campaign.

The Mansfield-born sensation would go on to score 89 goals and provide 72 assists in 227 games in all competitions for the club over the next six years, memorably bagging 32 goals and registering 14 assists in all competitions during the 2013/14 season to claim the Scottish Premiership's Player of the Year award.

That haul of 45 goal contributions for the "dynamite" asset - as lauded by Lennon - is far beyond anything achieved by Maeda and his teammates under Postecoglou last season, with Portuguese gem Jota having led the way with 27 goals and assists in that title-winning campaign.

Under a coach lauded for his "beautiful" football - in the words of pundit Owen Hargreaves - the now-retired Commons would likely have thrived as part of the 57-year-old's set-up, with the current progressive approach no doubt suited to his creative talents.
