Celtic have been handed a huge boost concerning the injury sustained by Kyogo Furuhashi last week.

What's the latest?

That's according to Kieran Devlin, with The Athletic journalist revealing in a recent Q&A that the centre-forward's hamstring injury picked up in the 3-2 Europa League win over Real Betis is not as bad as first feared.

He then went on to state that the 26-year-old even had tests before Sunday's 1-0 win over Motherwell to see if he was fit enough to play a part in the fixture.

Speaking about the Japan international's current fitness levels, Devlin said: "Kyogo's injury is not as bad as feared."

Fans will be delighted

Considering just how crucial a part of the Celtic side Kyogo has already become since his £4.6m move to Glasgow this summer, the news that the striker could be set to make a return to first-team action against Ross County on Wednesday evening, or, if not, in the League Cup final against Hibernian this weekend, is sure to have left Bhoys fans delighted.

Indeed, over his 13 Premiership appearances so far this season, the £1.8m-rated centre-forward has already scored eight goals, provided two assists and created four big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 2.2 shots and making 1.2 key passes per game.

These returns have seen the £18k-per-week man average a SofaScore match rating of 7.07, ranking him as Celtic's joint 10th-best performer in the Scottish top flight - of players who remain in Ange Postecoglou's first-team squad.

The Japanese striker has also scored five goals, registered three assists and created two big chances over his five appearances in the Europa League, and bagged a further four goals over six Europa League qualifying and League Cup fixtures - taking his total for the season to 14 strikes and five assists in just 24 games.

As such, the news of Kyogo's rapid return will undoubtedly provide Celtic's chances of winning their first trophy of the Postecoglou era on Sunday with a considerable boost, something that will certainly delight everyone involved with the club.
