Journalist and transfer insider Pete O'Rourke has dropped a claim regarding Celtic full-back Josip Juranovic and his immediate future at Parkhead.

What's the talk?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O'Rourke discussed the player's situation after it was claimed by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter that the Croatian had attracted interest from other clubs and could leave the Hoops this summer.

He said: "Juranovic has proved himself to be a good signing for Celtic since joining the club last summer. He’s played at right-back and left-back and has performed well for Postecoglou’s side.

"So, I’m sure Postecoglou would prefer to keep him at Celtic Park, especially as they prepare to be back in the Champions League next season."

The Bhoys signed the defender from Legia Warsaw on a five-year deal worth a reported fee of £2.5m last August.

In his debut season at Parkhead, the 26-year-old made 35 appearances in total across all competitions.

In his 26 Premiership outings, the full-back scored three goals and delivered two assists, while also taking 36 shots at goal and delivering 98 crosses throughout the campaign.

This shows just what he can offer to the Bhoys and illustrates why they would be wise to do everything they can to keep hold of him for as long as possible.

Great news for Celtic

Now that O'Rourke has shared this behind-the-scenes claim regarding Ange Postecoglou's presumed wish to see Juranovic continue at Celtic, this should be great news for many Hoops fans, knowing that the club would probably not be looking to cash in on the defender this summer.

Bearing in mind what he delivered for the team last season, it would also be great news for the club to see the player stay where he is and help them progress next season and beyond.

While there is still some time before the transfer window closes, the best thing Celtic can hope for is that no other clubs come in with an offer for the defender which could tempt him away from Parkhead.

However, the possibility of retaining the Premiership title and competing in the Champions League should be enough to keep Juranovic where he is for another season at least.
