Scottish champions Celtic have taken great strides under manager Ange Postecoglou over the last 12 months or so, with one of the key figures in that rise having been that of Kyogo Furuhashi, with the Japan international having sparkled during his time at Parkhead thus far.

The 27-year-old has been one of many astute signings that the Old Firm outfit have made in the past year, having been snapped up for a relative bargain fee of just £4.6m from J-League side Vissel Kobe in the summer of 2021.

Postecoglou had suggested that the dynamic forward would add "something special" upon his arrival in Glasgow and he has lived up to the billing since then, with 31 goal contributions in just 41 games in all competitions.

The 5 foot 7 marksman appears to have made a smooth transition to life in Scotland having replicated the form he had showcased during his time in his homeland, having scored 49 goals and provided 18 assists in just 111 games at his former club.

The £5.4m-rated star proved integral to the Hoops' title success last term after netting 20 goals and laying on five assists in all competitions - despite missing a fair chunk of the season through injury - making him the club's top scorer as a result.

That sparkling form has continued into the current campaign as the 15-cap sensation has already netted six league goals thus far, including a clinical hat-trick in the 9-0 thrashing of Dundee United last month.

A potent and ruthless threat in front of goal, the diminutive ace has also earned plaudits due to his tireless and "resilient" approach to leading the line - as described by Postecoglou - with that hard-working nature making him a real asset for the Scottish Premiership side.

As pundit Kevin Campbell suggested last year, Celtic are simply "a different team when he plays", with the £52.5k-per-week man having quickly made himself a crucial part of the manager's progressive and attacking approach.

Such has been his form of late, there has even been a suggestion that Kyogo could potentially command a fee of around £25m-£30m in the near future - according to former Hoops winger Paddy McCourt - with that a marker of just how highly-regarded he is at present.

Not that the Parkhead outfit will be contemplating a departure any time soon, although the club do appear to have struck gold on a player who could make them a tidy profit if he is to move on in the coming years.
