Celtic took another early step towards regaining their SPFL title this afternoon by securing a remarkable 9-0 victory over Dundee United away from home.

A first-half hat-trick from Kyogo Furuhashi and a goal from Jota put the Hoops 4-0 up by the midway point of the game.

Five more goals in the second half firmly secured the three points for Ange Postecoglou's side during what was a rampant and swashbuckling performance from Ange Postecoglou's men.

Despite the goalscoring heroics from the Japanese striker, it was another one of Celtic's attacking talents that arguably stole the show - Liel Abada.

While Kyogo may have thought at half time that he'd be walking away with the match ball after the game, three goals from the Israel winger give him his own hat-trick.

With 78 minutes of the game played, Abada had 47 touches of the ball in total, 29 fewer than Furuhashi had.

He also provided the assist for Celtic's third goal of the game that confirmed the striker's hat-trick.

Having had four clear shots at goal throughout the match, all four of them were on target, which highlights how deadly the 20-year-old was in front of goal on Sunday afternoon.

This storming performance earned the winger an impressive overall match rating of 9.9/10, making him the highest-rated Hoops player on the day according to SofaScore.

The Celtic Way also picked up on his sizzling display by saying that he "caused real problems for the hosts", which is somewhat of an understatement.

Previously praised for the "astonishing" progress he made during last season by Kieran Devlin, Abada has also been described as a "superstar" by former Celtic player Nir Bitton, which is exactly what he was in today's match.

The winger had not started any of the league games prior to today's clash, so he certainly did enough on this occasion to keep his place in the team going forward.

With the Bhoys in midweek league cup action against Ross County followed by the first Old Firm Derby of the season next weekend, it'll be intriguing to see whether or not Postecoglou decides to deploy Abada in that game. Should he begin the clash against Rangers, then the Parkhead faithful will be hoping to see him replicate the same sort of danger he showed this afternoon.
