Ange Postecoglou's Celtic side head into Wednesday evening's Old Firm clash in an exceptional run of form, with the Bhoys remaining undefeated in their last 13 fixtures in all competitions - 12 of which have been victories.

The latest of these wins came against Dundee United last weekend, with Liel Abada's dramatic 90th-minute winner moving Celtic to within two points of the current league leaders ahead of their top of the table clash tonight.

However, while such a last-gasp victory was undoubtedly good for the Hoops' morale heading into the Glasgow derby, it should not have taken Celtic until the final minute of normal time to make the breakthrough against the Tangerines, as the Bhoys created more than enough big chances - six, to be exact - to put the game to bed in far more comfortable fashion.

And, there was one Hoops' player in particular who was guilty of spurning a number of fantastic opportunities against United - centre-forward Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Postecoglou must axe Giakoumakis

Indeed, over the course of his 83 minutes on the pitch against Dundee United last time out, the £1.8m-rated striker offered next to nothing in attack for Celtic, enjoying just 21 touches of the ball, completing a measly three passes and missing two big chances for his side.

The £8.2k-per-week 27-year-old who Jeroen Kapteijns dubbed a "phenomenon" also won just two duels of his nine duels, lost possession of the ball 12 times and was beaten by an opponent twice.

These returns saw the Greece international earn an extremely disappointing SofaScore match rating of just 5.9 against the Terrors, ranking him as the worst player from either side to feature in the fixture.

As such, should Giakoumakis be handed a start against Rangers this evening, and the centre-forward subsequently goes on to turn in a similar performance to his display against Dundee United, he could well end up costing Celtic their shot at taking the lead in the title race - something that may prove disastrous to the club's chances of going on to reclaim their Premiership crown this season, leading us to believe that Postecoglou simply must axe the striker from his starting XI tonight.
