While Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will predominantly be focused on potential further incomings at Parkhead this month, the Premiership-winning coach may also have one eye on possible departures, with a handful of fringe assets perhaps destined for an exit this month.

One such player who could well be in line to move on in the coming weeks is Scotland international David Turnbull, with the 23-year-old facing a somewhat uncertain future at Glasgow with only 18 months remaining on his existing contract.

Although there have been no discernible reports suggesting that the former Motherwell man will be allowed to depart in the current transfer window, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie has claimed that the £16k-per-week dud could be one of the players that the club might look to "get rid of".

The 63-year-old went on to note that Turnbull is seemingly "too slow" to be able to secure a regular place in Postecoglou's side, having been restricted to just seven starts in all competitions this term, and only six in the Premiership.

The five-cap midfielder - who arrived from Fir Park on a £3m deal in 2020 - ended the 2021/22 campaign with an impressive haul of 18 goal involvements in 42 appearances in all competitions, but the arrivals of players like Reo Hatate, Matt O'Riley and Aaron Mooy over the past 12 months have shunted him down the pecking order.

Should Postecoglou look to offload the 6 foot 1 midfielder any time soon, the 57-year-old could well hasten that exit by promoting one of the club's promising academy talents, with 18-year-old Adam Brooks seemingly an ideal candidate to fill that creative void in the first-team squad.

The teenager is yet to feature at senior level for the Old Firm outfit, but has certainly put himself in contention for a more prominent role as a result of his standout displays for the club's 'B' team, having scored seven goals and laid on two assists in just ten Lowland League outings this term.

The youngster was notably influential in the recent 3-0 win at Broomhill, involved in all three goals for the visitors, having regularly showcased his ability to flourish in an attacking midfield role as well as on the flanks.

Such quality was recognised by coach Darren O'Dea last season, with the former Celtic defender having stated: “Adam is one at the minute that’s in really good form, he’s scoring goals, he’s created a lot of goals, he’s trained particularly well. But he’s also developing the other side to his game".

That continued hot streak should ensure that Brooks is able to follow in Rocco Vata's footsteps and make his senior bow in the coming months, with the Scotland youth international's chances of involvement set to be improved should Turnbull be shipped off to pastures new.
