Celtic defender Greg Taylor ‘should be fine’ after missing the Scottish Premiership game vs Hearts, according to Ange Postecoglou.

The Lowdown: Injury concerns

The Hoops secured a 3-1 victory over their opponents on Wednesday night but were without the services of the 25-year-old, who was noticeably missing from the matchday squad.

The Bhoys boss confirmed in the build-up to kick-off that the left-back wasn’t risked due to feeling soreness in training, but a positive update on his fitness has now emerged.

The Latest: Taylor fitness update

Speaking after the Hearts win in his post-match interview, Postecoglou revealed that Taylor is set to make a swift return to action.

As quoted by The Celtic Way, he said:

"Greg should be fine. No problem, he probably could've played tonight at a stretch but we just thought we'd be a bit cautious there."

The Verdict: Boost for Postecoglou

Taylor is an integral member of Celtic’s squad, having made 32 appearances across all competitions this season, so it’ll be a big boost for the boss to have him available for selection again.

The Greenock-born talent currently averages 1.7 aerial wins and 1.3 tackles per league game, via WhoScored, but is also equally as strong in the offensive aspect of his play.

The Glasgow ace has netted three goals and provided two assists in 2022/23 whilst ranking in the 97th percentile for progressive passes by full-backs.

Taylor has four man-of-the-match awards to his name this term, highlighting the individual impact he makes, and Celtic will be glad to hopefully have him back for the next fixture.
