Celtic managed to go six points clear at the top of the Premiership table last weekend after securing a 2-1 victory in the latest Old Firm derby.
The Hoops now find themselves back at Parkhead this afternoon with a clash against St Johnstone for their latest league outing.
Heading into today’s clash, it seems as though an early piece of team news has emerged which will surely have a lot of Hoops supporters rubbing their hands together in excitement.
Speaking in his latest press conference (via 67 Hail Hail) on Friday, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou revealed that Kyogo Furuhashi will be in the matchday squad this afternoon after being left out last weekend.
The 56-year-old said: “Yeah, he was fit last week. In the end, it was a judgement call on my behalf to be conservative with him.
“He’s trained all week, I was keen on him to have a full week of training. He’s right to go. He’ll be involved tomorrow, 100% he’ll be part of the match squad.”
The attacker had been out of action since December with a hamstring injury.
Since arriving at Parkhead from Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe last summer, the 27-year-old has made 26 appearances for the Hoops across all competitions. In that time, the attacker has scored 16 goals and provided five assists along the way.
His overall performances have earned the summer recruit a season rating of 7.14/10 from WhoScored, making him the sixth-highest rated player currently in Postecoglou’s squad.
Taking all this into account, it’s safe to say that seeing the £4.95m-rated gem back in the squad after being left out of the Old Firm derby will be very exciting for Celtic fans.
With St Johnstone only conceding two goals in their past four league games, it may take someone of Furuhashi’s attacking talent and knack for finding the net to make sure the Hoops pick up another victory.
If the striker is able to hit the ground running again in terms of scoring goals, he could potentially be the man to fire Celtic to the title.
