Celtic could still be set to move Ismaila Soro, amongst others, out of the club in the coming weeks.

What's the talk?

In recent comments cited by The Scotsman, Ange Postecoglou revealed that, despite a deadline day move to Fortuna Sittard falling through, the 23-year-old midfielder - as well as a couple of Celtic's other fringe players - could yet still seal a move away from Parkhead in the coming weeks, as there are a number of winter transfer markets that remain open.

Speaking about the Bhoys' potential business, the 56-year-old said: "With guys like Soro it's about trying to help them and if they get opportunities elsewhere to try and facilitate that.

"There was a complication with Holland because, unfortunately, he needed to have a work permit sorted for us to do a deal [on Monday]. That didn't happen. But with him and a couple of others, there are still markets open and he is training well and available."

Celtic must act quickly

While it is true that Postecoglou's side have suffered a huge amount of injuries so far this season, something which has often led to the Greek-Australian coach having to call upon a number of his squad's fringe players, when Celtic's regular first-teamers are all back fit and firing, the 56-year-old now finds himself with something of a bloated side.

Indeed, at present, the Hoops have ten senior players capable of operating from central midfield, a number which can easily be reduced without running the risk of Postecoglou being left short - with Soro appearing to be the most likely candidate to depart the club in this position.

Meanwhile, rarely-used players such as Albian Ajeti, Boli Bolingoli and Vasilis Barkas would also appear to be free to leave Glasgow should an opportunity arise - something that would free up around £53k-per-week in Celtic's wage budget, with Ajeti reported to be earning £18k-per-week, Bolingoli £15k-per-week and Barkas £20k-per-week.

As such, it would indeed appear a wise move for Celtic to shift these players prior to the closure of the transfer markets which remain open, as the club's finances would be looking considerably more healthy come the summer if they were to do so.
