Biggest signing since Edouard

While things have not exactly worked out for Wolf at Gladbach since his £8.55m move from RB Leipzig last summer, with the attacking midfielder starting just three fixtures in all competitions this season, the 22-year-old is nevertheless a player who would hugely improve Celtic’s current options in the position.

Indeed, Wolf demonstrated his abundance of potential during 22 Austrian Bundesliga outings for Red Bull Salzburg back in 2018/19, with the £27k-per-week forward scoring eight goals, registering seven assists and creating four big chances for his teammates, in addition to taking an average of 1.9 shots and making 1.1 key passes per game.

These returns saw the former €12m (£10m) RB Leipzig signing who Christoph Freund dubbed “perfect” earn a highly impressive seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.92 – playing a key role in his side’s title-winning campaign alongside the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Erling Braut Haaland and Takumi Minamino.
