Celtic have been handed a huge boost in their bid to bring Hannes Wolf to Parkhead in the January transfer window.

What's the talk?

That's according to a claim made by Sacha Pisani, with the journalist revealing on Twitter that Borussia Monchengladbach would be willing to sanction the departure of the 22-year-old attacking midfielder on a temporary basis this winter, as well as confirming that the Hoops are circling for the Austria international.

In his post, Pisani said: "A loan deal is possible for Wolf as Celtic circle."

Fans will be buzzing

While it is undeniable that things have not worked out as planned for Wolf since his £8.55m move to Gladbach last summer, the 22-year-old would nevertheless appear to make a fantastic addition to Ange Postecoglou's current options in attacking midfield.

Indeed, over his 22 Austrian Bundesliga appearances back in 2018/19, the £12.5m-rated man was in hugely impressive form for Red Bull Salzburg, scoring eight goals, registering seven assists and creating four big chances for his teammates, as well as taking 1.9 shots and making 1.1 key passes per game.

These returns saw the £27k-per-week forward earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.92, playing an influential part in his side's Bundesliga-winning campaign that season.

Furthermore, with Wolf being able to play in a variety of different positions in attack - having featured on both the left and right-wing as well as at centre-forward - the 22-year-old's impressive versatility is undoubtedly another string to his bow which will be a big plus in Postecoglou's books.

As such, the news that he will be available to leave the Bundesliga side on a temporary basis this winter - rather than only on a costly permanent deal that the Hoops might not be able to afford - will certainly come as a huge boost to the Parkhead fan base, as well as the Bhoys' manager, who will need as much creativity and firepower as possible over the second half of the Premiership season if he is to have any chance of securing the league title.
