Mark McAdam has dropped an update on the future of the Celtic-linked Siriki Dembele.

What's the talk?

In a recent post on Twitter, the Sky Sports journalist revealed that AFC Bournemouth have now agreed a deal for the Peterborough United winger - whom Celtic had been linked with signing on a pre-contract agreement earlier this month, with the forward's current contract at the Weston Homes Stadium set to expire at the end of the season.

In his post, McAdam said: "AFCB have agreed a deal with Peterborough for winger Siriki Dembele. The club still need to agree personal terms so still some way to go on this one as things stand. Expecting AFCB to be big players between now and tomorrow's deadline."

Fans will be fuming

Considering just how impressive Dembele has been for Peterborough in recent seasons, the news that Celtic now look set to miss out on a deal for the forward - particularly as he is available on a free transfer at the end of the season - to a Championship side is sure to have left the Parkhead faithful fuming.

Indeed, over his 42 League One appearances last season, the £1.35m-rated winger was in remarkable form for Posh, scoring 11 goals, providing 10 assists and creating an enormous 17 big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 1.8 shots and making 1.5 key passes per game.

These returns saw the £2.6k-per-week sensation earn a highly impressive seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.06, ranking him as his club's joint seventh-best player in the third tier of English football.

The 25-year-old - who is more than capable of operating from either wing, in attacking midfield and at centre-forward - has continued this fine form into his 24 Championship outings in the current campaign, having already bagged five goals, registered one assist and created seven big chances for his teammates, in addition to taking an average of one shot and making one key pass per fixture.

These metrics have seen the Peterborough star once again average an impressive SofaScore match rating of 6.87, ranking him as Darren Ferguson's fourth-best performer in the second tier.

As such, it is clear for all to see that Dembele would have made a fantastic addition to Ange Postecoglou's attacking arsenal at Celtic Park, however, following McAdam's latest update, it would now seem as if the 25-year-old will follow in the footsteps of Riley McGree and Hannes Wolf in opting to join a Championship side ahead of the Bhoys in the January transfer window.
