Celtic have seen some big-name players make moves away from the Parkhead club since the start of the previous summer transfer window.

Players that have played big parts in Celtic's success over the past number of years such as Scott Brown, Odsonne Edouard and many others have all waved goodbye to the Hoops in search of new challenges.

Another player that has brought an end to his time with the Bhoys more recently, is Nir Bitton.

After making 271 appearances for the Parkhead club, in which he scored 15 goals, delivered 16 assists and won numerous trophies, the midfielder brought an end to his time with Celtic at the end of last season and has since gone back to his home country of Israel to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Looking ahead, the remaining weeks of the current summer transfer window could give the Bhoys the chance to bring in what could be their next version of Bitton following his departure, which is something that Ange Postecoglou will need to find before the season starts.

Earlier this month, it was reported by Latin Tribun (via Daily Record) that Celtic are looking to secure a deal for Argentinos Juniors midfielder Fausto Vera.

With 73 appearances for his current club under his belt, the midfielder has racked up seven goals and provided three assists for his side.

On the international stage, the 22-year-old has made 23 youth appearances for Argentina, finding the net on two occasions.

In his seven league games so far in this current campaign, Vera has taken more shots at goal (19) than any of his team-mates, in addition to making 11 interceptions and winning seven tackles in the process.

Described as having a "barbaric punch" on the pitch by journalist Pablo Carrozza on Twitter, Vera's defensive capabilities could make him the ideal replacement for Bitton at Parkhead.

Specifically, in 38 SPFL appearances for Celtic across their two previous league campaigns, the Israel midfielder made 37 interceptions and won 30 tackles, highlighting the attributes that he offered the team and what they will now be missing as a result of his departure.

Thus, to make up for Bitton's absence, securing a deal for Vera, which would reportedly take a fee of €6.5m (£5.5m) to complete, should be Celtic's top priority before the summer transfer window closes.
