As several of Celtic's senior personnel look set to leave the club upon the expiry of their loan deals, there's one man who Nick Hammond and co must be focusing on tying down.

Mohamed Elyounoussi has been a driving force in Celtic's squad this season, despite their disappointing run overall. The 2020/21 campaign is his second in Parkhead and it's safe to say he has already proven himself under Neil Lennon.

Football Insider reports that with there being no room at the inn at Southampton, the club are slashing Elyounoussi's asking price. They initially wanted between £8-10million for the winger, but the Hoops could now land him for as little as £5million.

Why Celtic must sign Elyounoussi permanently

In their current injury-stricken squad, the Bhoys only have the Southampton loanee to occupy the left flank. In his two seasons in Glasgow, Elyounoussi has tallied 20 goals and 12 assists in 54 total appearances. This campaign alone, the Norwegian has 12 goals and four assists in the Premiership, as per Transfermarkt.

He is Lennon's second highest goalscorer this season, behind only star striker Odsonne Edouard with his 16 goals and two assists. His influence on the wing has been blistering and many an opposition have failed to keep him quiet in front of goal.

Elyounoussi has received praise in abundance for his contributions to Celtic, including from Lennon himself who waxed lyrical about his hat-trick performance against Motherwell in November. Similarly, Tom English sang the praises of the 26-year-old on an episode of the BBC Sportsound podcast (via This Is Futbol). He described Elyounoussi as a "very dangerous player" who has "an awful lot to offer".

If Celtic let him return to Southampton, the Saints will more than likely look to offload him elsewhere. Therefore, Hammond and co must work on ensuring the £59,000 per week maestro puts pen to paper and commits his future to the cause at Celtic.
