On-loan Celtic defender Osaze Urhoghide has hinted that he could be tempted into a move away from Parkhead this summer.

What's been said?

In recent comments made to the KV Oostende website, the versatile right-back suggested that, following his loan switch to the Jupiler Pro League side in January - a deal which includes an option to buy clause - he would be more than happy to sign for the Belgian side on a permeated basis this summer.

In response to a question regarding his future, the 21-year-old said: "I will be very happy if I still play at Ostend next season. I'm having a great time here, but I also felt great in Celtic! I now have to try to prove myself, so that KV Oostende will certainly consider the purchase option. And then we'll see what happens."

Fans will be gutted

Considering the sheer amount of potential Urhoghide quite clearly possesses, should the defender indeed go on to secure a move away from Parkhead just a year after his arrival in Glasgow, it would undoubtedly be a departure that will leave fans of the club crushed.

Indeed, in a recent poll ran on Football FanCast, the vast majority of Celtic supporters made it clear that they felt it was a mistake to include a purchase option in the right-back's switch to Oostende - and it is not difficult to understand why.

Although the £270k-rated starlet made just one appearance for Ange Postecoglou's side prior to his move, the 21-year-old clearly demonstrated his ability in this fixture, making three clearances, one interception, five tackles, completing 30 passes and winning nine duels in the Bhoys' 3-2 Europa League victory over Real Betis.

Furthermore, the £3.8k-per-week defender also highly impressed in his most recent outing in Belgium, making three clearances, one interception, one tackle, completing 49 passes and winning seven duels in Oostende's 0-0 draw with Sint-Truidense VV - with these returns seeing the player who Postecoglou claimed will become a "top defender" earn a SofaScore match rating of 7.2.

As such, the fact that Urhoghide would be happy to seal a permanent move away from Glasgow this summer is sure to come as a gutting blow to fans of the Hoops, as Celtic would very much look to be waving goodbye to an exceptionally talented defender if the 21-year-old does indeed depart the club.
