Celtic supporters will be well aware by now that Parkhead is likely going to witness a mass exodus this summer.

Not only will the Hoops hierarchy be changing but a number of the playing staff will be heading for the exits and waving farewell to the Bhoys.

What’s the word?

This has been a disappointing season for a number of reasons but the fact their biggest rivals have now usurped them as the most dominant team in Scotland will sting the most.

What will also hurt is a plethora of players choosing to leave after their trophyless campaign.

Unfortunately, it feels like a foregone conclusion that Odsonne Edouard will be leaving for pastures new once the transfer window opens.

Arsenal and West Ham United have been interested in prising him away from Glasgow during recent months but it’s Leicester who are now leading the chase.

In a fresh update on the Frenchman’s future, talkSPORT report that Edouard is close to joining the Foxes this summer.

Personal terms have already been agreed but the two club’s are now negotiating over the fee involved. It’s thought the forward may cost around £15m-£20m.

Huge blow

After their diabolical season the last thing Celtic fans will want to see when the transfer window opens is Edouard leaving.

Their fans have been left enraged by a number of issues surrounding the club, protesting outside Parkhead earlier in the season and questioning Dermot Desmond over his shares.

Peter Lawwell will leave his role at the end of the season and will follow Nick Hammond out the door, somebody who resigned back in March.

Celtic fans won’t be sad to see changes in the boardroom but witnessing Edouard walking through the exit door will not be received well.

The 23-year-old has been their most important player in years gone by and is their top scorer by a healthy distance this term.

He scored 22 times throughout the season that’s just concluded, taking his tally in the famous green and white to 83 in 168 appearances.

Edouard has been a valuable servant to Celtic since replacing Moussa Dembele as the focal point in their attack. His goals have been so important that it took them to three straight Premiership titles between 2017 and 2020.

To lose an asset like him will be a huge blow. Not only will they be losing goals but they’ll be losing a swagger to their play too.

Replacing a goal scorer is always a tricky scenario so allowing the attacker to leave and then replacing him with a dud would only lead to more toxicity in Glasgow.
