Aston Villa defender in high demand

A number of Premier league clubs want to sign Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton, according to Sky Sports.

Fulham, Norwich and Stoke are all reportedly interested in the Scottish defender, who is yet to make a league appearance this campaign. The defender spent last season on loan at Mallorca and Nottingham Forest.

The three teams, all in the bottom half of the table, are interested in adding a right-back to their squads, with Hutton high on their list of targets. And with Villa manager Paul Lambert still uninterested in the Scot, a move from Villa Park could be on the cards this month.

Hutton joined Villa from Tottenham in 2011, and played in nearly every league game that season. But since Lambert took over after leaving his managerial post at Norwich, the 29-year-old hasn’t had a sniff of Premier League football, with only a handful of cup matches to his name.

Sprus signed the defender from Rangers back in 2008, and he played a part in Tottenham’s one and only Champions League campaign in the 2010-11 season, making 4 appearances.

With less than half of the January transfer window remaining, any team interested in Hutton will need to move quickly if they want to make a move happen this month.
