Aston Villa fans debate Hutton situation

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce recently revealed that he wanted Alan Hutton to be handed a new contract at Villa Park.

Hutton, 33, has been with Villa since 2011 – making more than 150 appearances in all competitions for the now Championship club.

This term, the full-back has provided two assists in 31 appearances in all competitions, and impressed against Middlesbrough in the first leg of Villa’s Championship playoff semi-final.

Hutton will see his current deal expire at the end of next month, however, and it is understood that the club are stalling on offering fresh terms.

Bruce wants the defender to stay, and the Villa fans have previously been in favour of the Scot being handed a new contract.

However, it seems that the tone is changing, with many feeling that offering Hutton, who is valued at £1.4m by transfermarkt.co.uk, a new deal would not be the correct decision if the club manage to gain promotion to the Premier League.
