Aston Villa were the underdogs heading into Saturday’s Championship clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The supporters had to witness Nuno Espirito Santo’s side thump Leeds United 3-0 at Elland Road in midweek.
The results got a lot of Villa fans talking on social media, some of which were nervous about this weekend’s encounter.
It turns out that they were worried for nothing as Steve Bruce’s side earned a 4-1 triumph over the Championship leaders.
Albert Adomah, James Chester, Lewis Grabban and Birkir Bjarnason got on the scoresheet, while Diogo Jota was the sole scorer for the visitors.
Villa managed to nullify Wolves for periods of the game in the second half, and Bruce has received plenty of praise from the fans for his approach to the game.
HUGE shout out to Steve Bruce today…. tactically we murdered them 2nd half… and Bruce deserves a huge amount of credit for that…. #avfc

One very happy Villa fan tonight. Bruce had them playing some awful football at times this season but he’s getting it spot on at the minute. So full credit to him and the players. Gotta make sure we continue to push now! 😁😁 #avfc

Bruce got this one exactly right! All credit to him and the staff. Got the players fired up again at the break, covered their FBs better and got us this win! Well done! #avfc

The Midlands outfit remain third in the league table, but they have closed the gap to the automatic promotion places to just four points.
Wolves are still at the top of the standings with a three-point advantage over second-placed Cardiff City.
