Experienced defender Tommy Elphick joined Hull City on loan from Aston Villa in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.
Villa currently have a serious shortage of options in central defence, but Elphick was allowed to move to Hull in a decision that did not go down well with the club’s supporters.
The 30-year-old has now been speaking out on his future at Villa, and with his contract due to expire next summer, does not expect to play for his parent club again.
It does seem a strange situation that the 6ft 2in ace was allowed to join a Championship rival, and Villa’s defence was all over the place in their 4-1 defeat at Sheffield United last time out.
John Terry has since been linked with a return, although it is thought that Steve Bruce’s side face a tough task to convince the centre-back to turn down Sporting Lisbon.
The Villa fans have been reacting to Elphick’s comments on social media, and it would be fair to say that they are firmly on the defender’s side over Bruce.
A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:
Don’t understand how he wasn’t being picked for us, feel like Bruce doesn’t like some of the players for some reason like lansbury, adomah, bjarnason, elphick etc
